Dear Residents,
Below, for your information, is a schedule of the works planned over the coming weeks and months in relation to the new bridge construction. All in-stream works on the West and East banks have now been suspended following the closing of the window for river works (July to September each year). The focus over the winter months will be to construct the bridge support elements on land on both sides of the river. In the period to the end of the year the following works will be undertaken;
1. Construction of west bank pile cap and bridge support columns.
2. Installation of concrete bridge foundation piles (all piles are bored rather than driven leading to significantly reduced noise disturbance) to the east bridge abutment. East abutment piling is due to commence on Thursday 9th October.
3. Construction of west abutment and wing walls.
4. Construction of east abutment and wing walls.
5. Diversion of existing services (watermain / ESB / Eircom / Gas) from the Peace Park onto Greens Bridge Street to facilitate excavation of the east river pile caps and east bridge abutment.
6. Installation of pedestrian crossings and additional temporary footpath on Greens Bridge Street to facilitate ease of access to Peace Park entrance for construction vehicles.
