Press Release: Special County Council Meeting to be held on 25th August 2014
A special County Council Meeting is to be held on 25th August, 2014 to consider the Section 140 Motion submitted by Cllrs Gardner, Funchion and Noonan seeking a suspension of the works.
The above meeting will be held on Monday next in County Hall at 3pm. This meeting is likely to attract interested members of the public. In order to avoid a repeat of the very unruly scenes, leading to verbal abuse of democratically elected representatives and officials alike, that were witnessed following the last Council meeting that dealt with this issue it is proposed to strictly enforce the provision of standing orders which only allows 20 members of the public to attend.
In this regard, and in order to be fair to members of the public supporting both sides of the debate, a total of 10 members of the public from both sides of the debate will be allowed access to the meeting.
Accordingly, 10 tickets have been given to those who made presentations to recent County Council meetings anti and pro the scheme. It will be up to them to distribute them in a responsible fashion.
