Proposed Bye-laws Prohibiting Consumption of Alcohol on Streets & in Public Places

NOTICE OF PROPOSAL TO MAKE BYE-LAWS PROHIBITING THE CONSUMPTION OF INTOXICATING LIQUOR ON STREETS AND IN PUBLIC PLACES

Take notice that upon expiry of not less than two months from the publication of this notice, Kilkenny County Council proposes to make bye-laws whose general purpose is to prohibit the consumption of intoxicating liquor in public places as defined by:

  • Ballyragget : That part of County Kilkenny comprising the Town of Ballyragget and its environs
  • Bennettsbridge : That part of County Kilkenny comprising the Town of Bennettsbridge and its environs
  • Callan : That part of County Kilkenny comprising the Town of Callan and its environs
  • Castlecomer : That part of County Kilkenny comprising the Town of Castlecomer
  • Ferrybank : That part of County Kilkenny comprising the Town of Ferrybank and its environs
  • Goresbridge: That part of County Kilkenny comprising the Town of Goresbridge and its environs
  • Graiguenamanagh: That part of County Kilkenny comprising the Town of Graiguenamanagh and its environs
  • Inistioge: That part of County Kilkenny comprising the part of the townland of Kilcross
  • Kilkenny City Environs: That part of County Kilkenny comprising the City of Kilkenny and its environs, other than those parts thereof which constitute the functional area of Kilkenny Borough Council
  • Mooncoin: That part of County Kilkenny comprising the Town of Mooncoin and its environs
  • Piltown: That part of County Kilkenny comprising the Town of Piltown and its environs
  • Thomastown: That part of County Kilkenny comprising the Town of Thomastown and its environs

These proposed bye-laws include provision for the serving of a notice on a person found to be in contravention specifying a fixed payment to be paid, the non-payment of which will result in a prosecution in respect of any offence committed.

The draft byelaws are available for inspection or a copy is available free of charge during normal office hours from County Hall, John Street, Kilkenny, Kilkenny County Council Area Office Thomastown, Kilkenny County Council Area Office Callan, Kilkenny County Council Area Office Castlecomer, Kilkenny County Council Area Office Newrath at Ferrybank Library in the period up to and including Friday 22nd of March, 2013

Submissions in relation to the draft Bye-Laws may be made before 5.00p.m. on Friday 5th April, 2013 to John Mulholland, Director of Services, Corporate Affairs, County Hall, Kilkenny.
