Kilkenny Fire and Rescue Service have a strong team of Fire Officers going to Northern Ireland to represent the Service and partake in the Games. Collectively these men have over 138 years of operational experience working with Kilkenny Fire and Rescue Service. They are partaking in sports such as Cycling (29km), Rowing (2000m), Rifle Shooting (600m), Golf, Half-Marathon (20km), Weight Lifting (340kg's), and Toughest Competitor Alive (8 Events - 5k Run, Shot Put, 100m Dash, 100m Swim, 20ft Rope Climb, Bench Press, Pull Ups, Obstacle Course). We invite you to wish them well in their individual sports and as our cadre of Fire Officers for and on behalf of the citizens of Kilkenny City and County
The World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) is a biennial event for serving and retired police, fire, prison and border security officers. WPFG is the third largest international multi-sport event in the world and will be the largest ever sporting event to take place in Northern Ireland. In 2013 there will be 56 sports held at 41 venues across Northern Ireland. There is over 7,000 competitors from over 60 countries registered to take part in the Games. The Games will run from the 1st August to 10th August 2013.
