Register of Electors 2010 – 2011
Kilkenny County Council is currently compiling the Draft Register of Electors which will come into force on the 15th February 2010. To be eligible for inclusion, a person must be at least 18 years of age by 15th February 2010. While every resident is entitled to be registered, your right to vote is determined by your citizenship.
- Irish citizens may vote at every election and referendum
- British citizens may vote at Parliament (Dáil), European and Local Elections
- EU citizens (other than British citizens) may vote at European and local elections. An EP1 form must be completed and stamped by a Peace Commissioner in order to be able to vote at a European election.
- Non-EU citizens may vote at local elections
A person must be resident at the address in question and a person may be registered for one address only.
An RFA form must be completed by any person wishing to have his/her name added/deleted from the Register of Electors. Closing date for receipt of forms is Friday 23rd October 2009.
The Draft register is published on 1st November and is available for inspection at post offices, public libraries, police (Garda) stations, courthouses and local authority offices up to 25th November. You should check the draft during this time to ensure that you are correctly registered.
