Agenda for the Ordinary Meeting of Kilkenny County Council to be held on Monday 18th February, 2008, at 3 p.m. in Council Chamber, County Hall, John Street, Kilkenny.

   That Kilkenny County Council hereby approves of the disposal of its  
                interest in house at No.14 Boherglas, Freshford Kilkenny to John &
                Martina Fox (Notice sent to members on the 8th
                February, 2008).  

        (ii).  That Kilkenny County Council hereby approves of the disposal of its  
                interest in house at The Cottage, Ahenure, Callan, Co. Kilkenny to
                Damien & Josephine Ryan  (Notice sent to members on the 8th
                February, 2008).  

        (iii). That Kilkenny County Council hereby approves of the disposal of its  
                interest in house at Pottlerath, Kilmanagh, Co Kilkenny (Notice sent to
                members on the 8th February, 2008).

    That Kilkenny County Council hereby approves of the disposal of its            
                interest in land at 15, Elm Green, Ardnore, Kilkenny to Ms. Hilda

“That Kilkenny Local Authorities would become members of the International Network ICLEI – Local Governments for Sustainability in order to support our activities in relation to Sustainable Development and Local Agenda 21 and to establish networks with Local Authorities throughout Europe to help achieve our goals and objectives regarding all aspects of ecological, social and economic sustainability”. “That Kilkenny County Council, in keeping with water conservation measures and managing climate change at local level, where projections indicate  significant impacts on water resources, that this council adopts as policy the installation of Dual Flush toilet systems  as part of its planning process, in all future house building, as an effort to conserve treated water”. “That Kilkenny County Council urgently calls on the Minister for
                   Enterprise Trade and Employment, Michael Martin , to remove the
                  “cap” of 6 years  on participants over 55 years of age in Community
                   Employment Schemes so as to allow them to remain on the schemes
                   to full retirement age in order to continue their invaluable work in their
                   local communities.

                  Fitzpatrick, Michael O’Brien & Malcom Noonan  – 3rd Feb, 2008

                  “That Kilkenny County Council recognizes the need for action on global         
                    warming and the need to conserve energy, reduce carbon emissions
                    and also the need to reduce light pollution of night skies. That    
                    Kilkenny County Council will support Earth Hour 2008 by turning off    
                    all non- essential lights controlled by the Council from 9pm-10pm 29th
                    March to support a collective world wide effort to show the difference
                    that can be made by this initiative and to raise public awareness of  
                    the need to use less energy.
 Requests that the City/County Manager/Town Clerk to take all
 possible steps to implement the turning off of all non essential lights   
 in its control as part of Earth Hour 2008.”

               “Waterford City Council calls on the Government to honour its  
                commitment to implement new legislation regarding Agency Workers
                as promised under the terms of the National Agreement “Towards
                2016”

 

       6(08)     Balbriggan Town Council – 15th January, 2008
                     “That Balbriggan Town Council call on the Minister for the   
                       Environment to bring in legislation to close the loophole in the law,
                       whereby drivers with foreign or otherwise invalid licences who break  
                       the road Traffic laws are not being given penalty points”.  

       6(08)     Limerick County Council – January, 2008
                    ”That, Limerick County Council adopts a motion of no    
                        confidence in the Health Services Executive (HSE) and calls
                        upon the Government and the Minister for Health to abolish the
                        HSE and replace it with an efficient body who would have the
                        professionalism and commitment to deliver a modern and     
                        effective Health Service for Cystic Fibrosis patients, especially
                        young adult patients who are born with this life threatening  
                        disease;  furthermore, that this motion be circulated to all local
                         authorities seeking their support for same.”  

        8(08)          Macroom Town Council – January 2008
                             
“That Macroom Town Council in light of the 2006 Statistics that
                         14,598 dogs were put to sleep by Local Authorities not to mention  
                         the number of dogs put down by individuals, Macroom Town
                         Council calls on the Government to introduce micro-chipping and
