Implementation of National Water Pricing Policy - Notification to all non-domestic customers

The Government’s National Water Pricing Policy requires the charging of all non-domestic customers of water services to recover the full costs of providing such services to these customers. This is in line with the National and EU policy on the application of the “polluter pays principle” – as stipulated in Article 9, EU Framework Directive.

Note:  Schools will be charged a fixed rate for water services until 2010 in accordance with Government policy.  A meter will be installed for monitoring purposes only until 2010.

The Contract for the installation of meters has recently been rewarded and Kilkenny Local Authorities will commence metering all non-domestic water connections throughout 2008 with an expected completion date of October 2008.

The first area for meter installation works to be carried out will be the Ballyragget area.

Kilkenny Local Authorities are arranging with the contractors that customers are notified in advance of meter installation on their water supply.
