Roads Update 11.00a.m. Saturday 9th January, 2010

The M8 (Cullahill to Urlingford) and National Routes (N9, N10, N24, N25, N29, N76, N77, N78) were all salted last night (08/01/10) between 5pm and 11pm. The Motorway and National Roads are all passable with care.

Regional Routes R700 (Kilkenny/New Ross), R702 (Gowran/Goresbridge), R703 (Thomastown/Graiguenamanagh), R705 (The Stripe via Graiguenamanagh), R695 (Ballykeefe/Kilcreene), R699 (Knocktopher/Kilmaganny), R435 (Johnstown/Rathdowney), R502 (Johnstown/Templetuohy), R694 (Castlecomer/Ballyragget), R704 (Mullinavat/New Ross), R698 (Owing/Windgap) have also been salted or gritted in the period between 5p.m on 08/01/10 and 8.00a.m. on 09/01/10. Regional roads are largely passable with extreme care but motorists are advised, if possible, to avoid the R703, R705 and R698.

Local roads are extremely dangerous and only essential journeys should be considered with Regional/National roads being prioritised as part of route selection.

Diminishing salt stocks must be conserved and only priority salting is being undertaken.
