Severe Weather Response-Press Release/Update 4.50pm- 30th December 2015

Road Closures

Further Road Closures are as follows:

- Main Street Piltown
- Old N9 at Grannagh
- Numerous minor Roads are closed in South Kilkenny and these may not be signposted- Motorists should therefore take great care if driving this evening and tonight.
- The Bleach Road near Kilkenny City
- The Ardaloo Road near Jenkinstown- Kilkenny County Council will be re enforcing the Road Closures barriers at this location so as to prevent traffic travelling across this road due to the damage being caused to properties on this roadway.

Restatement of Safety Message


The public are being asked to stay away from the flooded areas, not to drive or walk through floods, to obey the warning signs that have been put in place and obey any instructions of Council personnel and An Garda Siochana and not to make any unnecessary journeys. Should a journey be necessary the public are being asked to use the main roads and to slow down as there is spot flooding all over the county.

Sandbags

The Council with the assistance of the Army is continuing to make available sand bags to the affected areas.
