Rainfall Warning

Met Eireann has issued a Yellow rainfall warning for the River Nore Catchment.
Rainfall Amounts of up to 20 to 25 mm are possible in the River Nore catchment from 3pm today (6th January) until 3am tomorrow morning ( 7th January)

Kilkenny County Council's Flood Emergency Response Plan remains active.

Kilkenny County Council is remaining on high alert.
There is a risk of flooding in smaller streams & rivers.
The Council will be monitoring closely the tributaries of the Nore including the Nuenna, Duiske, Dinin , Breagagh and Kings rivers.
Existing Flood Defences will remain in place until at least Thursday night or Friday .

Safety Message

Wet roads may freeze later tonight leading to icy road conditions by morning.
Road surfaces have been damaged & there is debris and spot flooding on many roads which will not be visible during darkness .
Take extra care tomorrow at school drop off & pick up points at when travelling behind school buses.
Pedestrians are still being advised to stay away from rivers and river banks-rivers are swollen with strong currents & river banks are very unstable.
