Press Release-Kilkenny County Councils Flood Emergency Response
Issued on Saturday 2nd January 2015 at 4.30pm Release/Update no 4 of 2nd January
River Levels.
The level of the River Nore, Barrow & Suir remain high and will be monitored by the Council over the next 24 hours particularly given that further heavy rain is predicted.
Road Closures.
- Main Street Graiguenamanagh has re-opened
- Inistioge is impassable-Motorists should avoid the area.
- The one-way system in Thomastown is now being operated and supervised by An Garda Siochana as a two way system for local traffic only-further updates on this will be posted to the Councils website later tonight.
- The R700 from New Ross to Kilkenny is closed -The alternative Route is via N25 & M9.
- The R448 from Paulstown to Knocktoper is closed - The alternative Route is via the M9 or via R711 , Kilkenny Ring Rd & N10 to Knocktopher.
- The Circular Rd in Kilkenny City is closed as is the Bleach Rd near Kilkenny City.
- The Annamult Rd Bennettsbridge is closed
- The Ardaloo Rd Threecastles remain closed.
- Motorists are urged to travel with caution on the N24 from Waterford to Carrick on Suir-There is considerable flooding on parts of this roadway with traffic down to single lane in flooded locations.

- Graiguenamanagh-Fairview Car Park
- Callan Fire Station
Public Safety Message.
- Take care tonight as freezing conditions are predicted and un treated roads will be dangerous.
- Pedestrians are advised to stay away from rivers and river Banks-rivers are swollen with strong current & river banks are very unstable.
- Motorist are advised to exercise caution while driving today-roads are flooded in many locations, there is considerable debris on roads and road surfaces are damaged .
- Slow down and be considerate of all road users.
