Artlinks Announces Recipients Of 2011 Bursaries

ARTLINKS ANNOUNCES RECIPIENTS
OF 2011 BURSARIES
ARTLINKS is pleased to announce details of the recipients of over €25,000 in bursaries for its membership in the five ArtLinks partner counties of Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford, Wexford and Wicklow for 2011.

These awards are designed to support the professional development of creative practitioners, aged 18 and over, who are resident within the ArtLinks five county partnership region and members of ArtLinks www.artlinks.ie

In County Kilkenny Visual Artist Lucy McKenna was awarded €1,000 towards an installation piece within the grounds of Kilkenny Castle during the Kilkenny Arts Festival 2011. Patrick Joseph Rafter was awarded €1,500 to contribute towards his studies as a violinist at the Royal Academy of Music in London under world class tutor Mateja Marincovic. Musician Maria Ryan was awarded €1,000 to help further her career as a violinist in a string trio the Ararilli Trio and finally Musician David O'Leary was awarded €1,500 towards his Masters of Music of the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.

County Kilkenny Arts Officer, Mary Butler congratulates the successful artists and thanks all those who had taken time to make submissions. She remarked that this direct support to artists was a key commitment of Kilkenny County Council's arts programme and of ArtLinks.

Emma Harper/Literature €1,000.

Waterford: Jenny Fennessy/Theatre €3,000, Jane Jermyn/Visual Arts €2,000

Wexford: Sylvia Cullen/Literature-Theatre €1,600, Helen Gaynor/Visual Arts €1,400, Ian Doyle/Music €1,000 ,Joey Ryan/ Music €1,000.

Wicklow: Eamonn Sweeney/ Music €2,000, Joanna Kidney/Visual Arts €1,000, Joanne Boyle/Visual Arts €1,000, Sinéad O'Loughlin/Theatre €2,000.
