Kilkenny Community Facilities Census
Kilkenny Community Facilities Census
The Community and Culture Section of Kilkenny County Council are conducting a census of all community facilities across the county.
With this aim in mind, a questionnaire has been developed to collect information about what is happening within the community sector in Kilkenny.
All community facilities and centres and halls will be asked to respond to the questionnaire in the coming weeks.
A similar process was undertaken in 2009 and allowed the local authority to gain an insight into the challenges faced by community centres and facilities.
In the intervening years, the community sector as a whole has suffered on a range of fronts.
By completing this census work and collecting such invaluable information, we will be able to:
Document and highlight the incredible work that is going on behind the scenes to keep the community sector operating across the county
Provide specific information on the work of the volunteers
Highlight the supports and resources that need to be made available to centres and facilities, as well as the teams keeping them open
Allow for an understanding as to where gaps may exist in terms of community facilities
Capture the challenges facing centres and facilities in terms of funding of capital work, operational matters and staffing
By giving your feedback, the Community and Culture Department of Kilkenny County Council will be able to collate and analyse the data in order to help inform the priorities for any future policy developments as well as future funding rounds by agencies and service providers across Kilkenny.
