Fair Trade in Kilkenny
The Fair Trade Movement advocates the payment of a higher price for the products bought in developing countries and it is based on social & environmental standards. The Fair Trade label means that the products come from a producer in a developing country who works towards better social and environmental standards for their workers.
Kilkenny City received Fair Trade Status in 2005 which means that a number of shops and businesses are stocking and using Fair Trade products and the Fair Trade movement is promoted throughout the Community. The table below shows where you can get a Fair Trade Beverage in Kilkenny City.

Currently, the Fair Trade Status of the City is under review. A new Steering Committee formed in February 2009 to continue the promotion of Fair Trade in Kilkenny City. The Committee must continue to raise awareness of fair trade and promote fair trade products in the city to retain the city's Fair Trade status.
