Kilkenny County Council has a statutory function in implementing legislation relating to liquid milk dairy farms within it's area . These farms produce milk which goes for liquid human consumption (drinking milk) .
The Veterinary section carry out inspections of these holdings to ensure proper standard of
- Structural and operational hygiene
- Milk quality
- Animal health and welfare
While carrying out these duties , the Veterinary Officer works in close proximity with personnel from the pasteurising plant/food company i.e. Glanbia .
