The Waste Management (Prohibition of Waste Disposal by Burning) Regulations 2009 came into force on the 31st of July 2009 and amended in 2013 (S.I. No. 504 of 2013.Waste Management (Prohibition of Waste Disposal by Burning) (Amended) Regulations 2013.
The main points of the legislation are as follows. This explanation, however, does not act as a substitute for the law.
The farmer (holder of the agricultural waste) is required to notify Kilkenny County Council, Environment Department, County Hall, John Street, Kilkenny by post or by email environment@kilkennycoco.ie by signing a statutory notice in advance of the proposed burning of such waste. The information leaflet contains the conditions and fire safety checklist that must be adhered to.
