Construction Product Regulations

Construction Product Regulations

On and from 1 July 2013, under Regulation (EU) No. 305/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council laying down harmonised conditions for the marketing of construction products and repealing Council Directive 89/106/EEC (known as the Construction Products Regulation or the “CPR”), CE marking will be mandatory for all construction products placed on the market for which harmonised standards are in place. The Construction Products Regulation aims to ensure that reliable performance-related data is made available, by means of Declarations of Performance, in relation to construction products being placed on the European market.

Uniform assessment methods of the performance of construction products will be offered by:

  • the manufacturers when declaring the performance of their products, but also by
  • the authorities of Member States when specifying requirements for them, and by
  • their users (architects, engineers, constructors…) when choosing the products most suitable for their intended use in construction works.
