‘World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims’ 2016
'World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims' 2016
As you may already be aware, Sunday 20 November 2016 marks 'World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims', a UN initiative to remember the victims of road collisions internationally.
'World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims' gives us all an opportunity to remember those who have died on our roads and the families, friends and communities who have been devastated by their loss. For thousands of families around the country, their lives have been forever changed as a result of a collision. Masses, services and commemoration events will take place around the country on the 20 November to remember those who lost their lives or were injured on our roads.
On 'World Day of Remembrance', we remember not only the people who have died on our roads, but we also encourage people to consider the other preventable tragedies that will happen before the end of the year. This year, we have tragically already seen 148 lives lost on our roads. That is 148 families and communities who are devastated by a loss this year in counties all over Ireland. 'World Day of Remembrance' serves as a stark reminder to us all to consider what we can do to prevent more loss of life on our roads this year.
The list of services which will mark 'World Day of Remembrance' around Ireland will be available on our website here. If you are organising an event please let us know through the feedback section on the page. We would be delighted if you would consider holding a mass, service or commemorative event to remember the lives that have been lost and changed forever as a result of a collision on our roads.
Thank you for your time and once again for your commitment to helping us make the roads a safer place for everyone in Ireland.
Yours sincerely
