Roads Update Sunday 28th November, 2010 11am
11am Sunday 28th November 2010
All motorway, national primary and national secondary roads were salted by Kilkeny County Council last night (Saturday) and repeated salting was undertaken on the M9 and N25 (Waterford to New Ross) this morning (Sunday). All these routes are driveable with care. In the case of the motorways, particularly southern sections of the M9, motorists are advised that only a single lane is in operation in both directions and no overtaking should occur. All motorway and national routes will be salted again tonight.
While some Regional Roads and local roads have also been salted motorists should excercise extreme care on these roads as some remain dangerous due to compacted snow and ice. Salting of sections of these routes will continue today and tonight (Sunday).
In summary we wish to advise that only essential journeys should be undertaken in these weather conditions and, where possible, motorists should seek to access the National Road network when planning their journeys.
