The 20th Annual Kilkenny Person of the Year Awards Nominations are Now Open

Are you an everyday hero, do you know someone who goes above and beyond for the community?

The 20thAnnual Kilkenny Person of the Year Awards nominations are now open

Nominations for the Kilkenny Person of the Year Awards are now open. The awards, which are now in the 20th year, strive to give public recognition to the people in County Kilkenny for their contribution to Kilkenny society.

Nominations will be considered in areas such as:

  • Arts
  • Courage
  • Community Service
  • Crisis Support
  • Community Awareness
  • Social Inclusion
  • Youth

The overall Person of the Year and the Hall of Fame award, are awarded each year.

This year’s awards are being generously sponsored by Kilkenny County Council, in association with the Kilkenny People.

Nominations forms can be found in the Kilkenny People from the 21st of September. You can also download a copy of the Nomination form at the Kilkenny LEADER Partnership website here. Nomination forms can be returned to Kilkenny Person of the Year Awards c/o Billy Gardiner, Kilkenny People, High St, Kilkenny.

Alternatively you can email your nomination, including your reason for nominating, the category and their contact details to The closing date for this year’s awards is Friday 7th of October.

The Chairman of the awards committee commenting on the awards said: ‘These awards help to highlight not only the individual triumphs of so many in our community, but also raise the profile of the beneficiaries of the awards and helps highlight the work that they do .’

Each year the awards’ night raises funds for a Kilkenny charity. This year’s beneficiary is The Good Shepherd Centre, which works with homeless men,and those at risk of becoming homeless, in Kilkenny and its environs.

The awards will be presented on Friday 4th ofNovember at the Newparkhotel. This year’s awards sponsors are Kilkenny County Council,Kilkenny LEADER Partnership, Glanbia, Highway Safety Developments, Boland Solicitors and O’ Neill Foley, and KBC Bank.
