The Graigueanamanagh Fire Brigade led by S.O. Eamon Doyle responded to call for assistance at a Hay Barn fire at Barraghcore, Goresbridge, County Kilkenny last Thursday night, (21st of July) at 11:42 p.m. Support assistance was also requested from Bagnelstown Fire Brigade, County Carlow led by S.O. Michael Cox and from Thomastown Fire Brigade led by S.O. Paddy Heafey.

Some hay and farm machinery were lost due to the fire. A number of fattened lambs also perished due to the fire. The fire was brought under control after a sustained effort by fire-fighters who managed to save approximately 60% of the barn. No injuries were reported on site and operations closed the next day (22nd of July) close to 12 noon. Kilkenny City & County Rostered Senior Fire Officer on-scene was Killian John Hennessy.
