The Elected Representatives of Kilkenny County Council resolved to make the Kilkenny County Development Plan on the 22nd of April 2014. The Kilkenny County Development Plan 2014-2020 came into effect on the 20th May 2014.

Kilkenny Borough and County Councils, being the Planning Authorities for the City & Environs of Kilkenny at the time of making the Plan, resolved to make the City & Environs Development Plan on the 16th May 2014. The City & Environs Development Plan 2014-2020 came into effect on the 13th June 2014.

Notice of Variations to both the Kilkenny County Development Plan 2014 - 2020 and Kilkenny City and Environs Development Plan 2014 - 2020

Kilkenny County Council being the Planning Authority for Kilkenny City and County varied both the Kilkenny County Development Plan 2014 - 2020 and the Kilkenny City and Environs Development Plan 2014 - 2020 on 25th November 2016, in order to incorporate the requirements of the Urban Regeneration and Housing Act 2015 to apply Part V to developments of 10+ houses with 10% social housing requirement and to align the minimum development standards for new apartments with the Department's Guidelines for Planning Authorities on Sustainable Urban Housing: Design Standards for New Apartments (2015).

Variation No. 1 (b) & (c) to Kilkenny County Development Plan 2014 - 2020

b) Incorporate the requirements of the Urban Regeneration and Housing Act 2015, to apply Part V to developments of 10+ houses with 10% social housing requirement.

c) Align the minimum development standards for new apartments with the Department's Guidelines for Planning Authorities on Sustainable Urban Housing: Design Standards for New Apartments (2015).

Variation No. 2 (a) & (b) to Kilkenny City and Environs Development Plan 2014 - 2020:

a) Incorporate the requirements of the Urban Regeneration and Housing Act 2015, to apply Part V to developments of 10+ houses with 10% social housing requirement.

b) Align the minimum development standards for new apartments with the Department's Guidelines for Planning Authorities on Sustainable Urban Housing: Design Standards for New Apartments (2015).

Variation 2 (a) and (b) to the Kilkenny City and Environs Development Plan

Proposed Variation 1 to the County Development Plan and Proposed Variation 2 to the City & Environs Development Plan

In accordance with Section 13(3) of the Planning & Development Acts 2000-2015, notice is hereby given that Kilkenny County Council is proposing a number of Variations to the Kilkenny City & Environs Development Plan 2014-2020 and Kilkenny County Development Plan 2014 - 2020.


Variation No. 1 to the Kilkenny County Development Plan is in order to:
(a) Amend the site specific development standards for Mount Juliet estate
(b) Incorporate the requirements of the Urban Regeneration and Housing Act 2015, to apply Part V to developments of 10+ houses with 10% social housing requirement.
(c) Align the minimum development standards for new apartments with the Department's Guidelines for Planning Authorities on Sustainable Urban Housing: Design Standards for New Apartments (2015).

Variation No.2 to the Kilkenny City and Environs Development Plan is in order to:
(a) Incorporate the requirements of the Urban Regeneration and Housing Act 2015, to apply Part V to developments of 10+ houses with 10% social housing requirement.
(b) Align the minimum development standards for new apartments with the Department's Guidelines for Planning Authorities on Sustainable Urban Housing: Design Standards for New Apartments (2015).
(c) Change zoning objective from 'Community Facilities' to 'Residential' at St Josephs' Road, Kilkenny City
