The Local Elections 2019 pursuant to Section 26(2) of the Local Government Act 2001 will take place on Friday 24th May, 2019. Polling stations will be open from 7 am to 10 pm.
Amendments to Local Electoral Areas
A local electoral area boundary commission report was published in 2018. This resulted in changes to Kilkenny County Council's local electoral area boundaries. Kilkenny County Council now has four Local Electoral Areas with total membership of 24 Members listed as follows:

Are You Registered to Vote ?
You are eligible to vote in a Local Election once you are over the age of 18 or will reach the age of 18 on or before Polling Day which is Friday, 24th May 2019.
You can check the register to make sure that you are registered to vote.

Friday, May 7th 2019 i.e. to join the Supplement to the Register
- Deadline to register to have a Postal Vote:
Sunday, April 28th 2019 i.e. to join the Supplement to the Postal Voters Register
- Deadline to register as a Special Voter:
Sunday, April 28th 2019 i.e. to join the Supplement to the Special Voters Register
Becoming a Candidate
A candidate may nominate himself or herself or may, with the candidate's consent, be nominated by a proposer. A proposer must be registered as a local government elector in the local electoral area of the local authority for which he or she proposes to nominate the candidate.
The period for receipt of nominations begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, 27th April 2019 and ends at 12 noon on Saturday, 4th May 2019
