Green Schools Programme

Kilkenny County Council is delighted to support the 81 schools that participate in the Green School Programme in the county, and is eager to support schools who are starting their green flag journey.  For an overview of the green school programme, visit the Green Schools website.

The Environmental Awareness Officer offers a range of services to all schools throughout the year including:

  • Parent/Teacher Annual Green Schools Information Seminar
  • Advice and guidance to green school committees to keep schools on the right track
  • Talks to school groups on various topics; recycling, waste prevention, composting
  • Provide items such as clean up materials e.g. bags & gloves for the National Spring Clean
  • On occasion can provide items for school competition prizes
