Healthy Kilkenny City Eastern Environs Small Grants Scheme 2025
Opening Date: 28/05/2025 Closing Date: 27/06/2025
The Healthy Kilkenny Small Grants Scheme for the Eastern Environs of Kilkenny City promotes the vision of the Healthy Ireland Framework or Improved Health and Wellbeing (2013 - 2025), by supporting agencies, community and voluntary groups to undertake 'Health and Wellbeing' projects within their community.
The Healthy Kilkenny Eastern Environs Small Grants Scheme 2025 supports Non-Government Agencies, Charities, community and voluntary groups wishing to undertake specific 'Health and Wellbeing' projects under the relevant categories of the fund. The purpose of the Kilkenny Local Community Development Committee's Healthy Kilkenny Fund is to encourage and support agencies, community and voluntary groups to take an active part in improving and protecting health and wellbeing at all stages of life, reducing health inequalities, and creating an environment where everyone can play their part in a healthier Kilkenny.
The Eastern Environs of Kilkenny City, identified through a Health Needs Analysis conducted by the LCDC and Healthy Kilkenny Sub-Group, presents unique challenges and opportunities. This analysis involved extensive community engagement, including surveys and focus groups, to identify local health priorities and develop ideas for targeted interventions. The recommendations from the communities and services in the area highlighted the need for collaborative efforts across sectors to enhance preventative health measures, improve service accessibility, support vulnerable groups, and improve community wellbeing.
The grants scheme offers two distinct funding streams: The Health and Wellbeing Support Fund for NGO’s, Charity Organisations, and Local Development Companies (with grants ranging from €2,000 to €5,000), and the Health and Wellbeing Support Fund for Community Groups (offering grants from €500 to €1,000). These funds are tailored to support community-led initiatives that directly respond to the identified health needs, thereby promoting a more inclusive and healthier Kilkenny.
