One and a half million paid out in well grants in Kilkenny

Individual Well Grants were introduced in 1997 and since then Kilkenny County Council has paid out in excess of €1.5M in grant aid to over 1000 applicants. The grant scheme is administered by Kilkenny County Council on behalf of the Department of the Environment.

The aim of the scheme is to assist in the provision or improvement of domestic supplies which are over seven years old. Prior approval has to be obtained from Kilkenny County Council prior to any works being carried out. On receipt of an application form, Kilkenny County Council will arrange for an inspection to ascertain if the applicant is eligible for a grant aid. The maximum grant aid available is 75% of the cost of the works up to a maximum of €2031.58 per applicant.
