           1 (08)  Galway City Council – 14th December, 2007
“That Galway City Council request the Minister for the Environment to introduce a ban on all detergents, powders etc. containing phosphates as a result of the damage that is doing to fish, plant life and Lough Corrib in general and that this Council call on the Minister of the Environment to carry out a full investigation into what other discharges are currently going into Lough Corrib and leading to serious pollution of the water and that the investigation be completed as a matter of urgency”.

 

2(08)   Monaghan County Council 20th December, 2007
“That Monaghan County Council support the campaign to accord national honours to Thomas Kent and have his remains re-interred in a more appropriate and significant location. As Irishmen and women we are all aware of the significance of 1916 yet for 90 years the remains of Vol Thomas Kent, who was executed in Cork prison on the 9th May 1916 as part of the justice afforded those who took part in the Easter Rising, are still buried within the walls of the prison!.

3 (08)  Waterford County Council – 21st December, 2007
“That following on from the recent EU Vets Report that Waterford County Council calls on the Government to immediately ban the importation of Brazilian Beef. The report on Brazilian Beef issued by the EU Food and Veterinary Office confirms the need to impose a ban on beef imports from that Country. The report found serious irregularities regarding animal registration, identification, vaccination, false certification of exports, breaches of EU residency requirements and that Foot and Mouth Disease is still present”.
