It is an objective of Kilkenny County Council, as per the Kilkenny City & County Development Plan 2021-2027, to provide connections off/from the South East Greenway to settlements along its route.

This scheme will see the construction of a 2.1km purpose-built, off-road, safe, comfortable cycling and walking environment which will connect the South East Greenway with Glenmore village.

This project also incorporates the provision of a new Pink Rock Cycle Loop which will offer greenway users, travelling from the New Ross end, the option of cycling back along an alternative route beside the scene River Barrow.

The scheme received Part 8 planning in November 2023, and is progressing through detailed design. As the detailed design progresses, discussions with the relevant parties will recommence regarding the acquisition of lands required to deliver the project.

This scheme is being funded under the Rural Regeneration Development Fund.
