Notice of Proposed Development by a Local Authority

N24 Junction Improvements, Piltown

In accordance with Part 8, Article 81 of the above Regulations, Kilkenny County Council hereby gives notice of proposals relating to the N24 Junction Improvements in the vicinity of Piltown.

The proposed scheme entails the modification of two local road junctions (LP1038 & LP1039) on the N24 National Primary road, west of Piltown. Right turns out of these junctions will not be possible. Left turns from the N24 into the LP1039 junction will be prohibited. A new link road will be provided between the Turret and Piltown Tower. A new left-in left-out junction onto the N24 will be provided via a new link road and overbridge southwest of Piltown tower. A local access onto the south side of the N24, serving a number of properties, will be closed. Access to these properties will be via a new access road which will have a junction onto the new link road beside the new overbridge. The scheme also includes other minor and consequential works associated with the scheme.

Plans and particulars of the proposed development will be available for inspection or purchase, at a reasonable fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy, during office hours at the following locations:

  • Kilkenny County Council, County Hall, John Street, Kilkenny
  • Kilkenny County Council, Newrath Area Office, Newrath, Co. Kilkenny

Please note the inspection period for this scheme is now extended until the 3rd of February, 2012.

This is to afford members of the public and the Statutory Bodies the time to review the Habitats Directive Project Screening Assessment which has now been added to the Part 8 Display documentation. The publication of the Habitats Directive Project Screening Assessment is in accordance with Article 250 of S.I. 476 of 2011 Planning and Development Acts 2000 – 2010.

Submissions or observations with respect to the proposed development, dealing with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area may be made in writing to Mr. John Mulholland, Director of Services, Roads and Transportation, Kilkenny County Council, County Hall, John Street, Kilkenny, on or before 17th February, 2011.
