Notice of Proposed Development - Thomastown Quay Wall Repair Works

Kilkenny County Council proposes to repair the Thomastown Quay Wall, a retaining wall on the R700, Kilkenny to New Ross Road and immediately adjoining the River Nore in Thomastown, County Kilkenny.

Notice of Proposed Development by a Local Authority

Thomastown Quay Wall Repair Works

In accordance with Part 8, Article 81, of the above regulations, Kilkenny County Council hereby gives notice of proposals for the repair of the Thomastown Quay Wall. The wall is a retaining wall on the R700, Kilkenny to New Ross Road and is immediately adjoining the River Nore in Thomastown.

The wall in question is a Protected Structure in the Kilkenny County Development Plan (RPS ref. D103). The works will be located within the Nore Barrow Special Area of Conservation (SAC) ref. no. 002162.

The section of wall to be repaired measures approx. 110m long. The main features of the proposed works include :

  • Construction of a concrete nib at the base of the wall.
  • Re-pointing and grouting of the wall.
  • Installation of soil nails and associated plates.

Details of the proposed scheme may be inspected during office hours from Monday 20th May 2013 to Monday 17th June 2013 at the following Kilkenny County Council Offices :

  • Thomastown Area Offices, Thomastown.
  • County Buildings, John St., Kilkenny.

Submissions or observations in relation to the proposed development may be made in writing to the undersigned at Kilkenny Co. Co., County Buildings, John St., Kilkenny no later than 5pm on Monday, 1st July 2013.
